Layout for NEW Grey High

     Computer centre

Computer Centre Accessories

The new Grey High computer centre will be unlike any other, this state of the art facility will provide every pupil with the chance to learn valuable skills such as I.T. or computer studies.  The facility will be equipped with 2 high speed servers, access to the Internet and email from each workstation, a printer which will be accessible by all pupils, a data projector that can be used for presentations by both the teachers and pupils and an interactive white board for the use of the teacher.  The centre will also have 40 workstations which means that it will be adequately equipped to host even the biggest of our classes.

Reasons for the proposed layout

The proposed layout is definitely the most practical and easy solution to the way the new computer centre should be laid out, and following are just a few reasons as to why this is:

*        The interactive white board is placed in the front of the class so that it is clearly visible to all the pupils and easily accessible to the teacher (who works at the “green” station).  It is also perfectly positioned for use with

the projector.

*        The projector will be hung from the ceiling so that it is out of the Text Box: Layout for NEW Computer centreway

and less likely to get damaged, it is lined up with the centre of the interactive white board.

*        The printer is put in the front of the room so that the teacher can easily keep an eye over who’s printing.  It

will also make it easier for the teacher to collect printouts during exams or test and take them back o his desk.

*        The servers are strategically placed on opposite sides of the classroom.  The reason this is done is that the servers can then easily be assigned to their half of the class (20 workstations + teachers pc).  Doing this ensures faster and more effective uploading of work and internet browsing.

*        The teachers desk is in the front of the class so that he can easily access the printer, projector, white board and keep an eye on his class.

*        The workstations are positioned in rows in order to save space whilst still allowing the pupils to easily see the teacher and white board in the front of the class.  The workstations may be separated by wooden or similar partitions which will ensure that each pupil will be producing his own work only.
